Record a vocal or a single-note melody, press Vocal Editor, and see every note drawn on a piano roll. Drag a note to retune it, snap the whole take to a key, then clean up noise, breaths and harsh S sounds, all before you apply anything.
Record your vocal, or any single-note melody such as a solo, a whistle or a bass line, onto a track in the recorder. It works best on one voice or one instrument at a time.
Press Vocal Editor in that track's second row, then Analyze. Fretnook finds each sung note and draws it on a piano roll.
Drag a note up or down to retune it. It snaps to whole semitones; hold Shift for fine control. Or choose a Key and Scale and press Snap All to Key, and set Strength to decide how far each note is pulled.
Use Preview to hear the result and Original to compare, then Apply to Track to commit it.

For a natural result, use a moderate Strength and a slower Speed, or move only the notes that are clearly off. Fully snapping every note to a key at 100% gives a tighter, more processed sound, and instant speed in the live auto-tune gives the well-known robotic effect. Both are available, and Preview lets you compare before committing.
The live auto-tune is quicker but rougher than the note editor. For a polished vocal, do the note-by-note edit and use the live version for effect.
Reduce Noise learns the background hiss from the quietest parts of the take and removes it. Reduce Breaths turns down the gaps between phrases where a breath is louder than it should be. Both rewrite the recording, and Ctrl+Z undoes them.
The De-esser softens harsh S sounds and works as a live mixer setting, as does Apply Vocal Preset, which adds a low-cut, mud cut, presence lift, compression, de-esser and a touch of reverb. You can fine-tune all of them in the mixer.
Pitch correction works on a single melody line, one note at a time. A solo vocal or a lead instrument gives good results. A full chord strummed on guitar is not a good fit, so use it on single-note parts. For chords, the Ear Trainer's Chord ID is the right tool.
