Hi, I'm Tim. I'm still learning guitar, same as a lot of you. I'm not a teacher and I'm not a studio pro. I'm just a guy who wants to play better and get his ideas down.
I built Fretnook because recording shouldn't be harder than playing. Most of the recording options I tried were complicated. I spent my time figuring out how the software worked and not enough time actually playing. I wanted less how, more do. So I made one free place in the browser where I can tune up, work out a scale, and hit record before I lose the idea.
This blog is where I'll write about it once a week. What I'm working on, what I'm trying, what's helping, and what isn't.
What to expect
- Playing and practice ideas you can use the same day
- Home recording, from the first take to a finished mix
- What's new in Fretnook, and why I built it
Where I learned
Fretnook isn't a place to learn guitar. These two are. I used them while I was learning, and I still go back to them.
When I find other lessons worth your time, I'll link them in the posts. If a link ever earns me anything, I'll say so.
Say hello
Tell me what you'd like covered. Write me at [email protected]. And if you record something in Fretnook, the Upload page is the place to share it.
Thanks for stopping by.
Tim
